BIDEN SAYS 70% OF INFLATION IS DUE TO RUSSIA'S IMPACT ON GAS PRICES

President says he is "doing everything he can" to reduce prices and deal with inflation.

US President Joe Biden said this Wednesday (20) that 70% of March's inflation is due to the impacts of the war between Russia and Ukraine on the prices of gas and other energy products.

In a message on Twitter, Biden says he is "doing everything he can" to reduce prices and deal with the inflation generated by the conflict in Eastern Europe.

“In addition to the issue of gas prices, I urge Congress to act immediately to lower the cost of utility bills, prescription drugs and other items,” the president said on social media, adding that his goal is to reduce inflationary pressures. (Source: CNN Brasil)

ANALYZE

It is estimated that Russia started the war against Ukraine on February 24 with 125 of its 170 tactical battalions.

The country with the largest natural gas reserve in the world is Russia.  The United States occupies the fifth position.  In other words, of the 193 countries recognized by the UN in the world, the United States has the fifth largest gas reserves.

Biden's talk is contrary to his subordinates.  If not, let's see:

"Energy experts say US LNG export terminals are up this year, putting the Biden administration's goal within reach."  (CNN BRASIL BUSSINES - 3/25/2022)

"An increase of 15 billion cubic meters from 2021 levels must be achieved, particularly if we continue to see the strong flows we have seen so far this year."  (CNN BRASIL BUSSINES - 3/25/2022)

Of course, we are not fools to consider that the increase of 15 billion cubic meters could supply consumption in the American domestic market, but “15 billion cubic meters of LNG is a large number.  It equals about one-sixth of Germany's annual gas demand,” (Alex Froley, LNG analyst at Independent Commodity Intelligence Services).

COMMENT

President Biden has so far been unable to say what he came for.  The United States has always been a reference to other countries in the world.  It is not what is perceived today.

If it is difficult for you to see a state that is not the "United States" are we used to image for Americans and other immigrants who live there?

"US inflation accelerated to 8.5% in March, hitting a four-decade high."  (www.wsj.com -By Katherine Blunt Mar. 14, 2022)

Rising consumer prices driven by huge increases in energy and food costs.

In addition to the price of gasoline (48%), in the United States, prices also rose in March/2022, energy (32%), new vehicles (12.5%), among others.  (Source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics)

It can be seen that the problem for the United States is not only in the war between Russia and Ukraine.  It goes far beyond that.

The days are "filled with mixed messages on critical topics, projecting an image of a directionless White House led by a president whose tendency to deflect the message is only adding to his problems."  (Source: CNN Politics - 4/20/2022)

The administration of the Joe Biden administration is lacking, and proof of this is the belief that fiscal activism can be a way out of the high rates of inflation.

Is the Tuned Walton thinking hard?  No!

The Republican, Joe Biden was vice president for Barack Obama for eight years and senator for the state of Delaware for six terms.

So the American president, in theory, has a lot to offer.  The World and the United States are waiting, Mr.  Biden.
